13 Mile Campground
Can anyone help??
My friend John and I drove his truck to Alabama from Florida to stay near my 13 year old son. Since we got here we have had no happiness. We are now living in tents in a campground, and I fear we will be far into the winter and further. He had 2 toes amputated a couple days after we got here and he has diabetes that requires insulin. We have yet to get any help in transferring his Fla medicaid to Alabama and as a result he has yet to get his antibiotics and insulin. A resource named Mercy medical cannot help because John gets $12 in food stamps. I contacted a congessman named Mike Rogers, and was given a long distance number to call. We have no means to do so. We both get SSD totaling $1152/mo. and because of expenses related to camping we are down to $64 at this moment until 10/3. We have no gas and no food and we are truly suffering here in the woods in Alabama. I am missing my son though only miles away. John is dying. Any wisdom?
You might try going to church’s for free food, there is bound to be one or two church’s in the nearby city or town that has a food pantry set up to help people through rough times, how about going to any Salvation Army, they have free lodging and free food, and they might be able to find some clinic or hospital that could help your friend out with his medical problems.
If your anywhere near the coast, you might try your hand at fishing, lots of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and all of it is fine eating, once cleaned and cooked, that is.
Hope this helps you out, cause I know what it was like for me when my dad sent me on the road to toughen me up before I enlisted in the military.
