Beautiful Lakes To Go To For A Vacation?

I want to start a tradition of going every summer with our family to a beautiful lake. I am looking for opinions of destinations with beautiful lakes for families. Although I love looking at beautiful outdoor scenery I am not much of an outdoorsy girl ;) and I have 4 daughters who would rather be inside as well. So I would prefer maybe hotels near by instead of only campgrounds. I have looked at Bear Lake in Utah and it looked really pretty. So just give me some suggestions. Thanks :D

We live in Michigan with so many beautiful lakes. We are, of course, home to the Great Lakes, all of which have their own unique beauty. Michigan shares shoreline with all but one of the Great Lakes (not Lake Ontario). Our family’s personal favorite is Lake Michigan. Any of the towns along the coastline have a lot of fun family things to do plus a very large variety of accommodations from campgrounds to luxury resorts. We like Muskegon and Traverse City. If you go further “up north” you can go across the Mackinac Bridge which joins the Lower Peninsula to the Upper Peninsula. As you cross, going north, Lake Michigan is on the left side of the bridge while Lake Huron is on the right. Mackinac Island is a fun place to go. It is accessible by ferry boat from either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City. It is an island that doesn’t allow motorized vehicles on it (emergency vehicles are now allowed, but didn’t used to be). Everything is horse-drawn. You can bring your bikes or rent them to explore the island. There are also horses to rent plus a very informative carriage tour that’s worth it to take. In your quest to visit beautiful lakes, be sure to look into Michigan. There is a good web site, http://www.Michigan.org, that you should check out.
