Camping on the north coast of California?

I'm trying to find a place to camp in the upper central coast and northern California coast, the most near San Francisco, the better. My husband and I just want somewhere we can go to our weekend would not be too much of a drive from the Sacramento area. We would like to find a camp near the beach or a beach that allows camping. Any ideas?
