Where can I camp in the desert in Michigan?

I am looking for a place to camp in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Is there a place that can camping is in the middle of the desert, miles from anywhere or anything? Preferably near a lake or river. If you have to be a campsite, no such thing as a camp with no connection or facilities that have at least a half mile Inbetween campers? Thank you.

Have you considered the Bruce Trail in Ontario? If you are in Eastern Mich., is not all that far. Look at a map … Hwy 2 all the way Tobemore. It's right on the bay of Georgia … absolutely virgin and pristine. You really have to walk on the path … ho at all facilities. I love that if you really want custody.
