Preparing for a Catalina Island camping trip requires careful planning and packing, since it will have your car or RV with you.
From Santa Catalina Island Conservancy owns most of Catalina, the natural beauty is well preserved, and are therefore a real pleasure.
There are five places to camping on the island, not counting the boats in the campsites. Most people arrive by ferry or private boat, so you want to pack enough but not too much.
A permit is required for all campers, which is available at Two Harbors Visitor Services or the Isle of Avalon Plaza. Upon reaching the island, check with them before going to their camp.
For Catalina Island camping reservations call 310-510-8368. You can also rent camping equipment such as tents, sleeping bags and towels. All campsites charge $ 12 per adult per night and $ 6 per child. They also have a ceiling of 10-day stay. Unfortunately for campers who like to take their dogs to throughout, no pets.
HERMIT GULCH CAMP
Located 1 1 / 2 miles from the pier in Avalon Canyon Road, you can hike or take a taxi from Avalon. It is located on a grass field with trees, inland near Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden.
This camp has 54 sites tent. YouÂ'll find toilets, showers, picnic tables, barbecues and a small store. Propane, coal, firewood and ice available for the sale of the Rangers.
CAMP TWO PORTS
This camp is located at Two Harbors on a cliff above the beach. You can walk 1 / 4 mile hill above two ports or take the Safari bus. There are 43 tent sites and 3 group sites. A number of protected sites, which is a blessing on hot summer days. There are chemical toilets, cold showers, a snack bar and a coin laundry. Activities include snorkeling and cycling.
LITTLE HARBOR CAMP
A third is the small port Camping camp. Located 7 miles east of Two Harbors and 16 miles west of Avalon, you can reach by walking (for stud) or take a bus or two-port Safari Avalon.
This camp has 17 tent sites, of which 8 are group sites. They have chemical toilets, showers cold water, picnic tables, a barbecue and a fire ring. You can dive and swim at two sandy beaches.
If you prefer, you can arrange in advance with Services visitors on your gear transported from two ports for a fee.
CAMP BLACKJACK
Another camp is on Catalina Island Camp Blackjack. Located near Mt. Orizaba, which is the highest peak on the island. It is inside, set amongst the trees. Located 9 miles west of Avalon and 11 1 / 2 miles east of Two Harbors off Old Stage Road, you can access it through a 1 1 / 2 mile hike to camp. To reach the trailhead, walk or take the bus Safari or Avalon Airport Shuttle. Entry into the island either Avalon or Two Harbors Plaza Guest Services.
This camp has 11 tent sites primitive, along with chemical toilets, BBQ, fire ring and picnic tables.
PARSON'S LANDING CAMP
This camp is between Land's End and Arrow Point. Located 7 miles west of Two Harbors, walk or come by kayak to get there.
It has 8 sites primitive tent, chemical toilets, BBQ, fire ring and picnic tables. There is no water so you must bring your own. These can include water and firewood in the fee, so check this when making the reservation. Beachfront, which is nice, but it is advisable to bring your own shadow
BOAT CAMPING
A unique way Catalina Island camping experience is by boat or kayak. There are nine boat called-in camping areas in total, covering a total of 17 campsites.
