Camping at Folsom Lake, CA… questions?

I’m camping at Folsom Lake this weekend at the Peninsula Campgrounds and first of all does anybody have directions from West Sacramento to get to that side of the lake?
And I heard they check your vehicle when you check in…?
Do they go through your belongings or what?
I made my reservations a few weeks ago but have just started reading some pretty bad reviews about camping at the Peninsula sites…
Wondering if I should still go.

I have been there and done that, They do check your boat for that invasive fresh water zebra mussel that’s all. If you are a minor or under 21 you will be checked for alcohol. But the camp sites are very nice and Folsom Lake is very worth the visit. Be sure to check out the fish ladders near the dam it’s very interesting right now. Lotsa of Samon in the river. turkeys (the wild ones, not idiots) and eagles are every where here as well. so bring a camera along with your fishin pole.
