Central New Jersey Campgrounds

So, like me, are a caravan of Avid. My family and I try to go at least camping 4 trips during the year. Here in New Jersey, at least for me all However, the best time to go is from March through May and September to mid October.
For me the summer months in New Jersey can get too wet, holding a large number of insects and mosquitoes, which frankly does not seem very pleasant atmosphere. I try to limit the time during the cold months for this reason and for convenience. There is nothing nicer then sitting on camping around the campfire on a cold, crisp. Something that I do not feel you can enjoy during the dog days of summer.
Now that does not mean they are not `t pleasant camping here in New Jersey during the summer months. It is, as can be found many if not all camps, private and public solid reserve. The main reasons being, the children go to school and the days are longer.
New Jersey offers a wonderful selection of campgrounds throughout the state. You can hit the mountains in northern New Jersey, Jersey shore campsites in Cape May. Either it is one you choose, be prepared for the land.
If you go camping in northern New Jersey, expect very rocky terrain. If you are a tent, that is something they love doing, doing a good hammer with which to beat the tent stakes in. In fact, you probably should bring tent stakes heavy-duty with you. If you only use those that come with your tent, it is likely to double over you.
A hammer is not necessary to south central New Jersey to camp, as the soil is soft without much to break rock.
If you are a novice to camping so I would recommend not "roughing" in your first attempt. What I mean by that is, find a campsite that has connections of water near your site. This will make this task easier when you need water for cooking, cleaning, etc. Also choose a camp that has bathroom facilities. Not all of them are, most do, but keep that on your list. I recommend the newest going camping, more near their site should be at the facility. It doesn `t make the trip enjoyable when you have to go in the middle of the night and have to walk a mile to reach the fourth bathing. Once you get used to the camping lifestyle, trust me, really is not that big of a deal.
Regardless of where you camp, What time of year, or that you go with, the key to a fun, safe and rewarding camping trip is in planning. Sit down and write a list of everything needed to make the trip comfortable. Separate the list into categories, such as providing food, cooking and eating utensils, sleeping gear and so on. After typing your list, double check that list against the others to be with would have invented. Maybe you forgot some things they have, and vice versa. The more time you spend in the planning process, the easier your journey and the most fun you have. There is nothing worse then when it is point cook the steaks over an open fire and you forgot the utensils for cooking, or seasoning, or even worse, the steaks themselves.
Camping is a fun activity and enjoyable for the whole family. Proper planning and not trying to expand beyond your comfort level, will make it even more special.
