Camps are basically either public or private. The camps are funded with public dollars from their taxes and therefore have spent some use.Private money into their camps generally do not have as pockets, and as such have to charge more money to make ends meet.Due to the inconsistency of private land not tell us much about them.

Where to Camp Anyone who knows has heard of KOA (Kampgrounds of America). They are located in the U.S. and are friendly and reliable places.They almost always have the amenities you will not find in most campgrounds.I was a pleasant surprise, a cold morning in a place long forgotten, to find toilet seats with heating facilities KOA!

Yes, within public places, we rely on federal grounds, you find very consistent. Some consider that a plus, others a minus. You will find most Federal camps are crowded and very rigid. They are full because most of them are the most spectacular sites such as "Yellowstone" and are more rigid by the need to control the crowd. Unfortunately, this rigidity extends to federal facilities with fewer people too.

My personal tastes run more to the facilities of the state. They are not as rigid as the feds and are usually more friendly.
On the negative side of this, it may not always get what you expect. But there again is one of the reasons why they prefer them.

With very few exceptions, states have a variety of beautiful parks with picturesque settings. When choosing a state for field, the criteria down to a choice of weather really, because all have sites that will give you that once in a life experience.

In general, most scenic parks are located in the northern regions. As one travels south, the land becomes flatter. Do you want more landscape or easier to travel? Even in a southern state like Alabama, the most beautiful landscape in northern part of the State, while the southern half is much easier to traverse.

Where never goes away, we make choices between the northern and good bad.The are colder and more mountainous. The south is warmer, flatter, and has more bugs. Looking for a family oriented site, or are looking for a place to get away from children? That becomes a prominent issue in a state like Florida where you have so many retirees. Make sure you know the good and bad points of a region so you can make an informed decision as to where to go.
