Yellowstone National Park, located in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, was the first national park established in Yellowstone USA is unique in that is home to a massive volcano. In fact, the geysers and hot springs that predominate the area are clear indications of the nature "active" region. Visiting Yellowstone is a wonderful adventure for many each year. A large number of sights await around every curve and hill in the park. Here are three sites to see if you are planning visit:
Old Faithful
Old Faithful erupted more frequently than any other big geysers. The average time between the eruptions of 91 minutes. However, it can vary from 65 to 92 minutes. It was 100 years ago it was first noticed to be so consistent. A beautiful visitor center 'and gift shop is close to passing the time as you wait for the next outbreak. Most rashes last only one to five minutes, but are so massive (100 to 200 feet high) that the experience not soon forgotten.
Mammoth Hot Springs
At first glance, appear Mammoth Hot Springs like a frozen waterfall. Large terraces abound while they connect by dripping water. The hot acidic water temperature below rises through aspects of ancient deposits of limestone in the area. Because water dissolves limestone, is brought to the surface. When the suspension cools and becomes less acidic at the surface forms of swimming pools and cascading features. This area is truly an amazing and dynamic work of art.
Wildlife
While wildlife is a must in Yellowstone, also is a can not miss. The abundance of animals in the park is famous. Early in the morning and at night is when the animals tend to feed. Therefore, they are easier to see in these times. Do not despair if you are only able to enter the park during midday. You should still see many birds and even some bison. Other notable animals in the park include bears, bighorn sheep, bobcats, coyotes, moose, lynx, moose, cougars and wolves.
