Built 600 years ago by one of the great leaders of Ireland, Cormac McCarthy, Blarney Castle is one of the greatest historic treasures of Ireland.

Located a few miles north of the city of Cork, Blarney Castle attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Despite repeated attempts by the invading English to take control of the castle was not until Oliver Cromwell's invasion that succeeded. He went through a number of hands in recent years before being sold to Sir James St John Jeffrey, Governor of Cork in 1688.

The grounds of Blarney Castle offers many interesting treasures among Badgers them cave, which was used as an escape route when General Cromwell, Lord Broghill, besieged the castle.

Other attractions are the Court of Justice, the dungeon, The Witch Rock, Wishing Square, Rock Close and the Witch's Kitchen.
