Ozark National Forest has about 1.2 million acres located in the Ozark Mountains in northern Arkansas. Some of many highlights in this forest are Mount magazine National Scenic Byway which offers beautiful panoramic views of the valley of Arkansas, Blanchard Springs Caverns, and many camps as Horsehead Lake and camps Lake Cove offers beautiful lake views.

If you like beautiful scenic walks, try the Mt. Magazine Scenic Byway. This scenic road is about 25 kilometers road (most of Arkansas State Highway 309) in western / central Arkansas on the south side of Arkansas River Valley. You have to drive slowly for long way, especially through the section that leads to Mt. Magazine. This section of the Byway offers spectacular views along a winding mountain road with 'sharp curves and hairpin zigzag' that leads to the flat-topped mountain Magazine. Allow at least an hour or two for driving slowly and stopping at viewpoints enjoy the beautiful views along the road.

At an altitude of 2753 meters, Mt. Magazine is the highest point in the state. On the way to and at the top of the mountain you enjoy a magnificent view of forested mountains, cliffs, and beautiful lakes.

From Mt. Magazine, the nearly 2,300 low Byway feet to the city of Paris, through the scenic 160-acre Cove Lake on the road. The Byway leads through the center of Paris (population about 3,300), passing Webb City to spend most beautiful natural landscapes in the manner as meadows, pastures and meadows.

Blanchard Springs Caverns, a system of "living" caves and caverns is another highlight of this National Forest. Life Magazine described him as "one of the most extraordinary discoveries of the century." The name comes from the source leaving the nearby mountains and a pond called Mirror Lake. Nearby is a short scenic drive by the falls where water comes out of the caves.

Special interpretive programs are presented in the amphitheater of the protected cave three times a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These programs are free to campers Blanchard Springs, with only a small payment for non-campers.

Blanchard Springs Caverns offers three tours. The stalactites Trail tour explores the top level of these caves, the Discovery Trail Tour is longer and more intense by mid-level leaders, and the Wild Cave Tour offers an introduction to caving or caving.

Information Service forest interpreters guide tours. Stalactites and voyages of discovery are limited to 30 people and the Wild Cave Tour is limited to 12 people. All trips begin at the Visitor Information Center. Be careful, these tours can cost up to $ 75, but very informative and are an excellent way to enjoy the beauty and unique characteristics of this living cave system.

Take the scenic drive and go during the day giving and camp at night with beautiful views of the lake or creek Horsehead. There are many campgrounds in Ozark National Forest.

A camp which offers views of a lake and shade of a mixed forest of hardwoods and evergreens is Horesehead Lake campsite. Horesh lake is a small fishing lake of about 100 acres bath beach. The camp is also small with only 10 RV and tent sites and is located so that most sites have a good view of the lake. While at camp, take an easy hike at mile three Horsehead Lake Trail.

Lake Cove is another camping, campground, slightly larger which also overlooks the lake from some of the camp sites. This is a good place to camp if you're traveling along the mountain. Magazine Scenic Byway from is on the way to Mt. Magazine.

Camp at Lake Horsehead Lake or Cove campsite overlooking the beautiful lake of your campsite, a leisurely stroll with spectacular views over the mountain. Magazine Scenic Byway, or go underground and experience in caving Blanchard Springs.
