Yosemite region, east-central California is known for its spectacular views of granite cliffs, mountain views and historic communities. Yosemite Park offers interesting destinations with about 750,000 acres and thousands of ponds and lakes.

It has 800 miles of trails and 1600 miles streams. The park is 6 hours drive from Los Angeles and about 4.5 hours drive from San Francisco.

Yosemite Valley is known for its cliffs, meadows, rock formations and waterfalls. The granite monolith of Half Dome is one of the attractions of mountains, which appears as a gigantic stone dome that is divided in half. The vertical face of El Capitan is also famous among climbers.

Yosemite Falls is the most impressive and widely considered the biggest drop in the world. Other falls of access in Yosemite Valley are the Bridalveil, Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall.

The Crane is a stunning flat meadow and woodland 16 miles from Yosemite Valley. Nearby are the sites of giant Sequoias Tuolumne Merced Groves.

Both cross-country and downhill skiing is available at Badger Pass in mid-December to early April. It also overlooks the point of Washburn. Hetch Hetchy Valley has a landscape which usually begins as a point of many trails. Walking is recommended during the spring and early summer. The road through the valley is open all year, but with a restricted schedule. However, it is closed during winter and spring.

Tuolumne Meadows is an open alpine meadow surrounded by domes, peaks, and the Tuolumne River. This area is available for skis or snowshoes from November to May or early June. Visitors can browse through prairie dog lake trail 15 miles.

Wawona is the place to Wawona Hotel, Pioneer Yosemite History Center in historic buildings and the Mariposa Grove.

Yosemite is ideal for lovers of outdoor adventure. It has more than 800 miles of hiking trails. No permits are required for hikers who want a day trip to its many paths and trails along the valley. Some roads are easy, but some are more strenuous, as the sheer granite walls. Hikers can also zigzag match, the rugged terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions.

Backpackers can access the road to Glacier Point trails in the Clark range and parks along the southern part. Tuolumne Meadows also offers 8 different trailheads.

Niagara Chilnualna and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias are popular walks in Wawona.

Yosemite Valley also offers impressive rock climbing activities to about 3,000 meters high and with vertical sides. The Tuolumne Meadows is also famous for its rock climbing at high elevation. The Yosemite Mountaineering School guides have been assisting visitors since 1969, showing a certificate of AMGA.

You can also ride horses. Again, Tuolumne Meadows and Wawona commercial offer horseback riding in DNC Parks & Resorts, along with custom guided trips.

For those who love skiing, try at Badger Pass. His cross-country and downhill trails are near 350 kilometers. The tracks and skating lanes are connected to Badger Pass to Glacier Point. It is open closed December and April.

For backpackers, Little Yosemite Valley is one of the most famous sites. It is located 4 kilometers from the Valley floor Yosemite along the Merced River.

Finally, Yosemite has 13 camps, all with forest canopies and rooms. Camps are available at Crane Flat, Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow and half of Tuolumne Meadows. Camping reservations are made from April to September.
